Crockett Youmans Dance Studio Collection

Cross Country and Track Team History

Scope and Contents The VSC Cross Country and Track Team was formed in 1976, although cross country runners had entered various events without the team previously.  George Whitmire, Gary Slayton, and Bill Thomas were early stars.  The first coach was Dave Waples.  That year the team won the State Championship, the South Atlantic Conference Championship, and placed eighth in the NCAA Nationals. David Williams Oral History Collection

The David Williams Collection consists of over 100 interviews with members of the Valdosta community and surrounding areas that lived during the Great Depression. The interviews chronicle the major difficulties of life during this trying era. Topics include descriptions of the struggle for daily provisions for the family. The collection contains DVDs, VHS tapes, and audio cassettes. All the tapes in the collection have been digitized and are available on DVD for use.
